There’s a wealth of information out there on meditation, PTSD, and trauma. Sorting through it all can be difficult. With this page I’m attempting to distill what I’ve personally found helpful as well as books and audios that people have told me worked for them.


Meditation for PTSD / Trauma Survivors
Unfortunately there is little written about meditation for trauma survivors, the only one I know of are the sections in The Becoming Safely Embodied Manual.


Belleruth Naparstek’s audio: Health Journeys/Healing PTSD

I haven’t listened to it yet. People have always spoken highly of her audios over the years. I just bought this, will listen to it, and have some clients listen to it — and then report back here.



One of the best, simplest books to how to meditate is by Kathleen MacDonald, a Tibetan nun. It isn’t specific to trauma, nor does it address the topicm nevertheless it is a pure guide to the various practices of meditation.
