Clearing what bothers us – Ajahn Chah

It takes incredible dedication and perseverance to do as the great meditation teacher, Ajahn Chah suggests.  Carving a path through the intrusive thoughts and feelings and fears, speaking back to them, “Don’t bother me.  You’re no affair of mine.”

It points to one of the essential differences between meditation practices and psychotherapy.  In psychotherapy we might choose to explore and deepen into those fears.  Yet, Ajahn Chah points us to what’s possible: a life not controlled by those fears and painful constructions of mind that we’ve created.
